"The reformer has enemies in all those who profit by the old order, and only lukewarm defenders in all those who would profit by the new order, this lukewarmness arising partly from fear of their adversaries, who have the laws in their favor; and partly from the incredulity of mankind, who do not truly believe in anything new until they have had actual experience of it." - Machiavelli ||||||

Contrary to popular belief, the New Testament book of Revelation (not "Revelations," as it is commonly rendered) does not provide a laundry list of signs for identifying the appearance of an anti-Christ. In fact, it neither uses the term "anti-Christ" nor describes such a figure — Chapter 13 of that book merely recounts the appearance of "beasts," who are depicted in animalistic terms (as rendered in the King James version of the Bible): And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast?"
"Girl wants to meet boy. Girl posts on Craigslist for a "casual encounter." Hundreds of boys respond.
This normally wouldn't be an unanticipated outcome, but what if the girl wasn't really a girl? And what if the imposter then took all the names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers sent by the men who responded and posted them all on the Web?"

I trhinks it's sort of fascinating from a sociological view but not so hot from a "being-a-good-person" point of view.

"Movie Buzz Don LaFontaine, the voice of a thousand dramatic movie trailers, died Monday at age 68. His voice is instantly recognizable, and apparently he also coined the phrase “In a world…” himself. Movie trailers will sound so weird without him around."
"Who is the “falling man” in this historic picture from 9-11? And should we try to answer this question or avert our eyes? Click the image for a classic Esquire piece republished on the web for the anniversary of 9-11. When should we “bear witness” and when should we respect the privacy of victims? Very interesting read."
