Senate Bill 119, the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act.
Thanks in part to your support the New Jersey Senate approved SB 119 on Monday, February 23, by a vote of 22-16. This vote marks a major victory for patients and advocates in New Jersey.
But this battle is only half over. Members of the New Jersey Assembly must also vote on this issue. Please take a moment today to contact your members of the state assembly and urge them to support the Assembly's companion bill, A804. The bill has been referred to the Assembly Committee on Health and Senior Services.
Please help us make New Jersey the fourteenth state to legalize the medical use of cannabis.
Coalition for Medical Marijuana - New Jersey or NORML New Jersey.I personally do not enjoy marijauna as it tends to give me a more or less instant panic attack and always has. However the sheer number of non-violent offenders who are removed from productive roles in society and incarcerated at taxpayer expense each year is a collossal waste of resources and an unnescassary violation of citizens freedom to act according to their own consciences and to be free from frivolous state intrusion into their private lives and practice. The danger of "soft" drugs such as marijauna is no greater, and often sited as less than, those of alcohol and tabacco. The political, criminal, sociological and philosphical lessons the United States learned during disasterous alcohol prohibition experiment during the 1920s should be reason enough to recognize the folly of the existing legal status of marijuana use and possession for personal use.

Images are made by finding old photographs of places, printing them out, and then holding the print up in the modern day location that the original photograph was taken. So far, all historical images have been available for free at the Library of Congress.
Project was inspired both by my love of history and Michael Hughes' Souvenirs.
I created a group for these types of images, if you plan on shooting your own, please join the group!

1 Timothy 4:9-10 “This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance 10. (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our trust in the Living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially those who believe.”
"We can set no limits to the agency of the Redeemer: to redeem, to rescue, to discipline, in his work, and so will he continue to operate after this life” “All men are his....for either the Lord does not care for all men...or he does care for all. For he is savior; not of some and for others not...and how is He savior and Lord, if not the savior and Lord of all? For all things are arranged with a view to the salvation of the universe by the Lord of the universe both generally and particularly." - Saint Clement of Alexandria Circa year 180 A.D.
“All punishments are means of purification, ordained by Divine Love to purge rational beings from moral evil and to restore them back to communion with God....God would not have permitted the experience of hell unless He had foreseen through redemption, that all rational beings would, in the end, attain to the same blessed fellowship with Himself.” - Saint Gregory of Nyssa
"even those “under the earth” will proclaim the Lordship of Christ and bow their knees to his Excellency." (Philippians 2:9-11)
I found this radio story rather interesting theologically - if you're into that sort of stuff take a listen.
(this post is very close to a subject disagreed upon long ago by some of the earliest and most highly revered saints of the catholic and orthodox churches that i posted here a long while back: http://favoritematt.blogspot.com/2008/09/eschatology-and-final-restoration.html
304: Heretics
Listen here.
The story of Reverend Carlton Pearson, a renowned evangelical pastor in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who cast aside the idea of Hell, and with it everything he'd worked for over his entire life.
Prologue.
Carlton Pearson's church, Higher Dimensions, was once one of the biggest in the city, drawing crowds of 5,000 people every Sunday. But several years ago, scandal engulfed the reverend. He didn't have an affair. He didn't embezzle lots of money. His sin was something that to a lot of people is far worse: He stopped believing in Hell. (2 minutes)
Act One. Rise.
Reporter Russell Cobb takes us through the remarkable and meteoric rise of Carlton Pearson from a young man to a Pentecostal Bishop: from the moment he first cast the devil out of his 17-year-old girlfriend, to the days when he had a close, personal relationship with Oral Roberts and had appearances on TV and at the White House. Just as Reverend Pearson's career peaked, with more than 5,000 members of his congregation coming every week, he started to think about Hell, wondering if a loving God would really condemn most of the human race to burn and writhe in the fire of Hell for eternity. (30 minutes)
Act Two. Fall.
Once he starts preaching his own revelation, Carlton Pearson's church falls apart. After all, when there's no Hell (as the logic goes), you don't really need to believe in Jesus to be saved from it. What follows are the swift departures of his pastors, and an exodus from his congregation—which quickly dwindled to a few hundred people. Donations drop off too, but just as things start looking bleakest, new kinds of people, curious about his change in beliefs, start showing up on Sunday mornings. (23 minutes)

Cane-Fu: Martial Arts For Seniors
Cane fighting classes have popped up all over the country, in part due to the influence of Cane Masters, the company Shuey founded that sells wood canes made of harder, thicker wood, to sustain wear and wider crooks to fit around an attacker's neck. Now, it's being offered at dojos and increasingly in senior centers and retirement communities.
"You don't have to be powerful, you don't have to be fast," said Gary Hernandez, who runs the dojo here northeast of Tampa where the session was held and where he teaches cane fighting classes himself. "It's a piece of hard wood. It hurts."
