A Vodka Movie by Zach Galifianakis, Tim and Eric
'nother classic. "keeps it a little too hot for my taste4"
Zach Galifianakis, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim were commissioned by Absolut Vodka to make a film for their website. They were told they could do anything they wanted as long as they mentioned the product.
TV commercials we probably won't see in America
i'm not quite sure i get this one actually?:
and the final one is from a while back, switzerlands tourism promotion during germany's world cup hosting. the original tagline then was something along the lines of "our men will actually pay attention to YOU.":
I wondered what The Daily Show would do without Bush...

Barack Obama: He Completes Us
The earthly son of a goat herder and an anthropologist, one man seems ready enough-ish to lead.

The site I've been tuning in to to follow the polls, projections, etc
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/
from their faqs page about why the site is different from straight up polling:
"There are several principal ways that the FiveThityEight methodology differs from other poll compilations:
Firstly, we assign each poll a weighting based on that pollster's historical track record, the poll's sample size, and the recentness of the poll. More reliable polls are weighted more heavily in our averages.
Secondly, we include a regression estimate based on the demographics in each state among our 'polls', which helps to account for outlier polls and to keep the polling in its proper context.
Thirdly, we use an inferential process to compute a rolling trendline that allows us to adjust results in states that have not been polled recently and make them ‘current’.
Fourthly, we simulate the election 10,000 times for each site update in order to provide a probabilistic assessment of electoral outcomes based on a historical analysis of polling data since 1952. The simulation further accounts for the fact that similar states are likely to move together, e.g. future polling movement in states like Michigan and Ohio, or North and South Carolina, is likely to be in the same direction."

"Pride cometh before a fall"
quote from another bloggy - "Is God voting Dem this year? Focus On The Family asked God to dump rain on Obama's big speech tonight. But apparently they didn't pray hard enough. In other news, a hurricane is predicted to hit New Orleans on Labor Day, the first day of the GOP convention."
What is "water ice?"
why did water ice develop in philly and not the south or the hot and arid west? anyone have a boat load of money and want to open a few rita's franchises in florida and L.A.?"think of the purest fallen snow on a winter morn, drizzel it with cherry struzzle, and have the hand of G_d touch it." the hand of G_d is the secret ingredient because it ain't no snow cone!

"Dear black people"
a great number of liz spikols vids are classic
no dierect links because she has a gazillion video blog installments, by way of introduction she is the editor of the philadelphia weekly - so check them here. i suggest starting at the beginning chronologically and getting to know the fun, charming, and seemingly sort of perfect liz before continuing on in time to her rather harrowing descriptions of her mental illenss and experiences with schock therapy - yes, they were still doing it in the 90s and they still do it today!

Philly #3 - A perfect capture of the Mummer Paradox
crazed working class guys put on sparkles and feathers and then yell in their silly philly macho accents - perfect! "Im a trucker and i come here and i touch feathers and i get teased about it - i got several tattoos on my body and their sayin - yo boo - how you gonna do dat?"
"it's awl about now dude, it's awl about vi-tory!" says the guy in pretty pretty feathers and spangles.
