Bavarian Leader Under Fire For Beer Remark

9/18/2008
"Günther Beckstein, the conservative governor of Bavaria, has caused controversy in the run-up to Oktoberfest by declaring that people who drink two liters of beer over a period of hours are fit to drive. Germany's drugs commissioner says he must have had one too many."

"Bavarian Governor Günther Beckstein enjoys a liter Mass of beer. "

as can be seen - a liter is quite a bit.

Guess I have to comment on this one since I live in this country:

Beckstein's "beer-remark" does not fit with his security policies at all. He is very worried about "our security" LOL But since he is from Bavaria he has to justify his beer-consumption :-) (no offense Steve, if you should read this). I also guess he had too many beers or was embarrassed that reporters caught him drinking or whatever. In the meantime he took his remarks back, saying he did not think and that it would be better not to drink at all when going to drive. I don't know Beckstein that well, but I am not a fan and think he is hypocritical (not because of this stupid remark, but because of his policies).
